Local Police
Approximately 50 vehicles have been covered with what seems to be blood from a person in the German city of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, according to police.
Vehicles, exterior walls and postboxes were marked, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they reported in a release.
Officers report they were contacted during the night on Wednesday night, when a resident observed that a automobile in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been marked with a red-colored substance.
The fluid had been placed in the form of a swastika, they added.
Police then found numerous other smeared vehicles and building exteriors in the adjacent neighborhood.
These symbols are prohibited in Germany under regulations prohibiting the visible presentation of symbols from the Nazi era.
Police report early analysis suggest the fluid was probably human blood.
"There is still no indication as to its origin; authorities are currently not informed of any harm in association with the occurrence," they stated.
Local authorities announced they were working "to solve the incident" and have requested to the community for details.
A high-ranking representative said the vandalism left him speechless and had to be resolved rapidly.
"This act strikes at the core of Hanau and reopens the wounds of the extremist violent incident in 2020," he posted on social media, mentioning the murder of nine people by a assailant focusing on people of immigrant origin in February 2020.
